Why join the Sheet & Tilmore Allotment Association?
Benefits include:
The annual membership fee is currently £5 but is under review by the Committee. If you want to become a member you must provide a completed New Member Form available as either a Word .docx file: click here or Adobe .pdf file: click here
At the AGM:
Benefits include:
- Public Liability Insurance for your allotment: please note that allotment holders agreements state that the tenant will indemnify the relevant council in case of any claims/loss etc. Having indemnity insurance is probably the most prudent way of managing that liability and the agreements say that the tenant is strongly advised to consider having this cover; being a member of STAA does this for you and is much cheaper than arranging it yourself.
- Use of the Trading Shed to buy Grobags, quality composts, organic and other fertilisers, poultry manure pellets, bamboo canes, slug controls and seed potatoes from well-known and reputable suppliers. All sold at just above cost price. See Trading page for Shed stock.
- Use of the RHS card for discounted entry to their gardens.
- Access to the 50% Kings Seeds discount.
- Access to the council running your allotment to discuss policy, problems and concerns about the allotments.
- Invites to social events such as the BBQ, organised by the Committee.
- Regular newsletters with tips, articles and hopefully glut-recipes.
- Having your allotment judged with a chance to win £50 for best allotment, a £20 token to spend in the shed for 2nd & 3rd places and also for best newcomer.
- A fantastic knowledge base of growers who have experience of the most successful varieties for each site.
- Plant swapping to give your excess plants a good home!
